HARNESS RACING NSW ANNOUNCES GOULBURN RACE DATES

The Goulburn Harness Racing club was recently informed of its date allocations for 2009/2010 racing season which gets underway in September.

In a change from the dates allocated in our first year of racing, the Goulburn race dates for next season have been spread out over 6 month period commencing in November 2009 and concluding in May 2010.  The specific dates are as follows:

Thursday 12th November, 2009

Thursday 10th December, 2009

Thursday 14th January, 2010

Thursday 15th April, 2010

Thursday 29th April, 2010

Thursday 27th May, 2010

The allocated dates came as a pleasant surprise to the club's executive committee.  'Initially we had 3 dates in September, followed by October and a couple in November.  These dates are much better because in the original allocation our racing season was all over within a few months.  At least now we can promote the meetings in a much more meaningful way and try to organise feature and supporting races with the Canberra Club' said club secretary Mark Croatto.

'The proposed dates also makes it much easier for volunteers to help, whilst under the funding model it helps us significantly in managing our finances.  It's a much better scenario than what we were originally facing' added Mark. 

The executive committee will now set about developing a race programme for the up coming season in which some of Goulburn's past features races will see a return.
